Week 3 of MUFLL action featured statement wins from Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s, as the Tigers stayed perfect on the season while the Huskies earned revenge.
Dalhousie 16, Mount Allison 5
The #3 nationally ranked Dalhousie Tigers (4-0) kept rolling with a decisive win over the Mounties (1-3). Tyler Jones paced the Tigers’ offense with 5 points (4G, 1A), while Joe Webster netted a hat trick to lead Mount Allison.
Saint Mary’s 12, UNB 8
#9 Saint Mary’s (4-1) completed the season sweep over UNB (1-3), pulling away after a tight first half with a six-goal run that sealed the game. A milestone moment came for UNB’s Austin Hirschfeld, who scored his 50th career goal to move into 36th all-time on the MUFLL scoring list, passing Rob Diamond.
Saint Mary’s 13, StFX 9
The Huskies bounced back against #6 ranked StFX (3-1), earning revenge after their Week 2 loss. Owen Cox was the difference-maker, scoring 4 goals and climbing to the top of the MUFLL scoring race with 16 tallies on the season.
Dalhousie 12, UPEI 5
The Tigers closed out the weekend with another strong performance over the Panthers (0-5). Goaltender TJ Cornell-Nixon was sharp between the pipes, sporting a 5.00 GAA in Week 3 while picking up his fourth win of the season. Nate Santarpia powered the offense with a 5-goal game and an 8-point weekend, solidifying Dal’s spot as the team to beat.
The race tightens as the season moves into Week 4, with Dalhousie looking to protect their undefeated start and challengers battling to keep pace in the hunt for the MUFLL title.
