Week 7 Recap

Oct. 26, 2025

The regular season has officially come to a close, with teams wrapping up their final matchups before the postseason begins. StFX secured the top seed after a dominant showing against UPEI, while UNB finished strong with back-to-back wins to lock up momentum heading into playoffs. Saint Mary’s and Dalhousie remain dangerous contenders, and Mount Allison and UPEI will look to regroup after a tough finish. As the dust settles, the playoff bracket is set, and all eyes now turn to the road to the MUFLL Championship.

StFX 18, UPEI 1
The #3-ranked X-Men (9-1) left no doubt about their form heading into playoffs, delivering an 18-1 win over UPEI (0-10). StFX’s depth was on full display as 12 different players recorded goals, led by Jett Taylor’s five-point afternoon. Aidan Carr, Cameron Waite, and Damon Pennoyer each added four points, showing how dangerous the X offence can be when firing on all cylinders. With the win, StFX clinched the #1 seed for the MUFLL Playoffs, a fitting finish for a team that’s been dominant all season long.

UNB 11, Dalhousie 10
In one of the most thrilling games of the year, UNB (5-5) edged #9 Dalhousie (5-5) 11-10 in a battle that came down to the wire. The Reds controlled the pace for most of the game, but Dal nearly completed a miraculous comeback, scoring four goals in the final three minutes to bring it within one. UNB’s Zach Watson delivered when it mattered most, racking up six points to lead his team’s offence, while Dal’s Luke Kenny responded with four goals in their effort. For UNB, it was a statement win, proof that they can hang with anyone as the postseason approaches. For Dalhousie, the loss stings, but their near comeback showed the late-game stamina that makes them a dangerous opponent in the playoffs.

UNB 9, UPEI 5
UNB carried their momentum into Sunday, securing back-to-back wins to close out their regular season, finishing in fourth place overall. The Reds’ offence continued to click, led once again by Michael Gallop, who netted three goals to lock up the MUFLL Top Scorer title with 32 on the year. UPEI battled hard but couldn’t overcome UNB’s pace and pressure. Justin Thompson led the Panthers with three points, highlighting his continued role as a bright spot for the rebuilding program. UNB, meanwhile, enters the postseason as one of the hottest teams in the league, brimming with confidence after a strong finish.

StFX 1, Mount Allison 0
StFX was awarded a 1-0 win over Mount Allison (2-8) by forfeit, officially securing the top seed for the playoffs. The X-Men now turn their focus to the postseason, where they’ll look to carry their regular-season dominance into championship weekend.

With the regular season in the books, attention now shifts to the 2025 MUFLL Playoffs, hosted this weekend at Mount Allison University. StFX enters as the top seed, but the competition remains wide open, with Saint Mary’s, Dalhousie, and UNB all capable of making deep runs. Stay tuned to see who will be crowned this year’s MUFLL champs.
