The battle of New Brunswick is featured in this years quarterfinals with the UNB Reds facing off against the Mount Allison Mounties at 6:00 PM. The Reds seem to be the favourite in this match up, but the playoffs are a different season so don't count out the Mounties. One fact you can count on is some New Brunswick representation in the semifinal round.
The following Saturday November 10th sees both semifinals taking place.
First up are the defending MUFLL champion and the number 1 seed, Dalhousie Tigers, taking on the quarterfinal winner at 3:00 PM. The Tigers are very comfortable playing in the early semifinal of the day as the number 1 seed. Since 2011, they have proven to the rest of the league that to win the MUFLL Championship, you'll need to go through the Tigers.
Capping off semifinal Saturday are the surging SMU Huskies and the veteran laden St. FX X-Men. Both teams find themselves in a similar position in recent years, playing each other in the later semifinal game that always seems to come down to a few deciding bounces. The Huskies are hoping to re-establish their regular season dominance over X-Men, taking both match ups early in September and late in October. Given the past results of this second semifinal, you can count on both teams to lay everything out on the line to book their ticket to the Championship game. Fans of lacrosse in the region who stick around for this match up are in for a real treat and potentially a late night.
