Welcome to the 2016 MUFLL Season

Sep. 03, 2016

Welcome to the 12th season of the Maritime University Field Lacrosse League!

Another season, and another Dalhousie championship! Since losing to Saint Mary's University in the 2010 championship game, the Tigers are an incredible 53-1 (including regular season and playoffs) and have won 5 consecutive championships. In fact, they have not lost a game since the 2011 season.

Can St. Francis Xavier University finally get over the hump and knock the Tigers off after 5 consecutive defeats in the championship game? How will they fair without former captain and leading scorer Ian McShane?

What about the upstart Acadia Laxmen? Can last year's goalie of the year Errol Spring lead a deep group to the championship game for the first time?

What a story the UNB Buccanneers have become. From having to fold their program in 2009, to one of the league's model franchises, no program does more in the community than UNB. After a winless first season, they quickly jumped up to 5 wins in 2015 and will be right there with Acadia to push the perennial top 2 teams.

After winning the 2010 championship, Saint Mary's has been on a steady decline, having won only 2 games in 2010. With potential MVP candidate Blake MacDonald and a reinvigorated defence, they will look to reverse that trend in 2016.

Finally, the Mounties will look to rebound after a difficult 2015 season. Having suffered a torn ACL during the East Coast Junior Lacrosse League playoffs, last year's leading scorer Geoff Zed will look to make a splash as this year's coach, and bring the team back to their winning ways.

Stay tuned for in depth team previews as we lead up to the 2016 season that kicks off on September 10th, and make sure to check in each week for our player of the week, alumni spotlight and weekly recap and preview features!
