Acadia beats Mount A, improves to 3-1 on season

The Acadia Axemen hosted the Mount A Mounties Sunday afternoon in Wolfville and picked up the 27-2 win. 4-1 after 20 minutes, Acadia exploded for consecutive 8-0 quarters, ending the half up 12-1 and 20-1 after three quarters. A 7-1 fourth quarter saw Acadia improve to 3-1. Mount A falls to 0-5.

An Acadia goal 20 seconds in set the tone for the Axemen Sunday afternoon. Four Axemen goals in 12 minutes saw a 4-0 lead before Mount A got on the scoreboard at the 4:30 mark. The quarter ended 4-1 Acadia.

The middle quarters saw 16 Acadia goals, each one assisted. Scores were 12-1 at half and 20-1 after three quarters.

Acadia outscored Mount A 7-1 in the final frame, ending the game 27-2.

John MacDonald paced Acadia and all scorers with 14 points in the win. MacDonald tallied only a single goal but added 13 assists.

Also scoring in the win for Acadia were Robbie Grant with 6 points (4,2), Gavin Quigley 5 (2,3), Kurtis Westbury 5 (1,4), Matt Kivell 4 (3,1)and  Ian Donovan 4 (2,2), while Charlie Clary, Luke Byrne, Chris Walker and Chris Clifford each had hat-tricks. Brandon Rose added a pair of goals while Errol Spring picked up the win in nets.

Aaron Burton and Gus Doane each had goals for the Mounties on the afternoon while Jacob Bragg was in nets.

These teams conclude their home-home season series Saturday Oct. 3rd when Mount A hosts Acadia at 11am.
